Have you heard the myth of the ‘Bloody Mary’ Halloween Caesar cocktail?
Legend has it that if you stand in front of a mirror and chant her name repeatedly, she will appear. Odds of her apparition are also greatly increased if:
a) The mirror is in a bar
b) A bartender hears you call her name
c) You are the bartender
LOL!
Seriously though, I had so much fun whipping together this spooky Halloween drink. Here’s how I did it:
Bloody Mary Halloween Caesar Cocktail
Yields 1 cocktail
You’ll need:
- 1.5 ounces vodka (my preference: Grey Goose)
- Mott’s Clamato, to fill (about 5 ounces)
- 1 ounce Caesar Squeezers sauce
- Ice
Caesar Squeezers is available across Canada and I’m loving it – I won a prize pack from them on National Caesar Day and love the BIG flavour it provides! However, if you’d like to kick it old school, you can also season your Caesar using:
- 4 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 dashes Tabasco hot sauce
- 3 grinds of cracked salt and pepper
Rimmer:
- Celery salt (if you want to go traditional) or black sea salt (if you want something a little spooky)
- Lime
Garnish:
- At a bare minimum, you’ll want celery!
- I decided to build a bit of a spooky face using celery as the hair, olives as the eyes and some gummy Dracula teeth as the mouth
- Other fun garnishes include: lime, pickle spears, pepperoni sticks, pickled beans, salami, pickled asparagus, skewered cheese, pickled carrots, olives and pickled onions.
Directions:
Rim a pint glass with citrus and salt. Fill glass with ice and add 1.5 ounces vodka. Top with Mott’s Clamato. Add an ounce of Caesar Squeezers to season (or four dashes Worcestershire sauce, two dashes tabasco and three grinds of cracked salt and pepper). Stir well, garnish and enjoy this spooky Canadian classic.
Happy sipping and have a great Halloween, guys!
