My father-in-law lives in the mountains. Earlier this month my Mum joined me and the kids on a road trip to visit him. We packed a lot of fun activities into a few days and each time I’d spring my UPPAbaby VISTA stroller into action, they’d both comment on how amazing it was. How functional. How easy to use. And how strollers didn’t come like that in their day.
Me? Well, I was absolutely beaming. Hands down, our stroller was the one baby item I researched the most and I’m SO glad I chose the UPPAbaby VISTA. I’ve been in love with it since day one – and even more so now that I can appreciate how well it functions as a double stroller.
So, in case the UPPAbaby VISTA is on your consideration list, here are my thoughts:
What I was looking for in a stroller
When I was pregnant with Elle, I put a LOT of thought into the stroller I wanted. I’m an on-the-go person and while getting out the house with kids is inherently more difficult than flying solo, I wanted a stroller that could keep up with my lifestyle. I had a wish list and needed:
- A stroller that was lightweight and easy to use. I’m strong but not THAT strong, so clunky wouldn’t do.
- The ability to directly attach an infant car seat to the stroller. If I was out and about with my newborn baby and she was sleeping, I didn’t want to have to wake her up to transfer her from a car seat to a stroller seat.
- Big wheels for maneuvering through the snow with ease during our long Alberta winters.
- The ability to adapt into a double stroller.
Why I chose the UPPAbaby VISTA
After a lot of reading online, ‘test driving’ several different strollers and chatting with friends, we landed on the UPPAbaby VISTA.
It might sound funny to draw this comparison but shopping for a stroller was sortttttt of like shopping for a car. There’s a lot to choose from and the more you look around, the more you start noticing a major difference between low-end and high-end models.
Price point wise, the UPPAbaby VISTA falls on the higher end of things but has been worth every single penny. It includes a bassinet and toddler seat, which are both incredibly useful.
The bassinet is suitable from birth to 20 lbs. I loved taking Elle for walks in the bassinet – plus, it’s safe for overnight sleep, which was extremely useful when we traveled.
At three months old, your little one graduates to the toddler seat and can continue using it until they weigh 50 pounds. It reclines to multiple positions, which is great for naps on the go, and even has a pop-out UPF 50+ sunshade.
Overall, here’s what I love about the UPPAbaby VISTA
- After daily use, countless road trips and several airplane rides, the stroller looks and functions just as it did the day we bought it three years and two kids ago.
- The stroller frame design combines aluminum and magnesium, making it lightweight, durable and easy to maneuver – even through our crazy snow!
- Functionally, it’s SO smart. It folds up, fitting with ease into the trunk of my car, and springs back to its upright position with the release of a latch.
- It’s an attractive looking stroller. If it was a man, it’s a Brad Pitt for sure.
- It directly (and easily) accepts the UPPAbaby MESA Infant Car Seat (which I bought separately).
The UPPAbaby VISTA as a double stroller
I’m super grateful because when UPPAbaby heard that Emmett was born, they graciously provided me with a VISTA RumbleSeat (in Jordan) and the accompanying upper adapter and lower adapter so that I could transform our single stroller into a double.
It’s wonderful.
Right now, Emmett’s only four months old so I generally tote him around in his MESA Infant Car Seat, up high and facing me, with Elle in the RumbleSeat looking forwards.
Even as a double, the VISTA has such an intuitive design, making it easy to fold down and spring up.
As Emmett grows and I swap out our MESA for the toddler seat, I have the choice of multiple forward and parent-facing options for both Emmett and Elle’s seats. I LOVE how versatile it is!
Our UPPAbaby VISTA Accessories
We own several UPPAbaby VISTA accessories, including the:
- Snack Tray
I highly recommend the Snack Tray. It attaches directly to the stroller and lets Elle snack on the go. Plus, it’s saved us from countless hangry toddler meltdowns!
- UPPAbaby VISTA Travel Bag
My husband’s favourite accessory is our VISTA Travel Bag. We’ve used it when flying with the stroller to Mexico, California and Kelowna. It’s super user-friendly and protected our stroller perfectly during flights. I also liked having the added peace of mind of UPPAbaby’s TravelSafe Program, which covers any damage caused during air travel. - UPPAbaby VISTA Leather Handlebar and Bumper Bar Covers
The latest VISTA model automatically comes with leather handlebars. However, I bought my stroller back in 2016 so added on a black VISTA Leather Handlebar Cover and Leather Bumper Bar Cover so our stroller and toddler seat would match the sleek look of my new RumbleSeat. They’re so luxe – I love them! - UPPAbaby VISTA PiggyBack Ride-Along Board
My favourite accessory, hands down, is our new PiggyBack Ride-Along Board. It attaches to the back of the stroller, allowing Elle to hop on and off as she pleases. She thinks it’s super fun. I love how it keeps her close, especially in parking lots and crowded spaces.
I hope all this information is helpful as you decide on a stroller that fits your family and lifestyle. Personally, I couldn’t be happier with our decision to purchase the UPPAbaby VISTA.
A big thank you to UPPAbaby for providing us with the PiggyBack Ride-Along Board, leather covers and the parts to transform our UPPAbaby VISTA from a single stroller to a double. As always, all opinions are my own.
If you have any questions not covered, I’m happy to answer them in the comments below.

I’m just starting to use my vista as a double and can’t figure out any way to have a toddler facing out. You mentioned “As Emmett grows and I swap out our MESA for the toddler seat, I have the choice of multiple forward and parent-facing options for both Emmett and Elle’s seats,” but according to the Uppsala baby website, they toddler seat can only be on top, facing the parent. My kid hates it after getting used to looking out and now I’m second guessing my vista purchase. My toddler is 20mo and close to the max weight of the rumble seat so it doesn’t make much sense to buy that.. any thoughts or help?
Hi there! Yes, in order to do the different configurations you do need to get some of the extra attachments. I added on the upper adapter, lower adapter and rumble seat (which is good up until 35 pounds). My daughter is almost three years old and 28 pounds so right now we have her facing out in the RumbleSeat and Emmett in his MESA car seat facing me. However, in a couple months I’m going to move Emmett to the Rumble Seat and Elle to the toddler seat (which is good up to 50 pounds). With the toddler and rumble seat Ill have several configuration options, including both facing outwards, both facing me, and one facing me – one outwards.
Hi! What did you do to keep the stroller in good shape through the winter?
Hi there, we’re in the process of switching to a double configuration for our Vista. I was intrigued to see your photo with the car seat upper and lower seat. It looks like the lower seat is the proper toddler seat with the adjustable footrest, rather than the rumble seat, which has a fixed lower half?
I’m really keen to find this out too! I cannot find any rumble seats with the adjustable footrest, but it would be potentially useful for smaller legs!
Quick question you mentioned that your vista has survived winter snow, how deep is the snow? I’m
Thinking of taking our vista to a very muddy music festival next year but concerned it won’t make it. 🙂 we got our vista second hand but seeing if I should get an all terrain stroller as well. Hugs !!
