Weekend Getaway To Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre

Earlier this fall, Aaron and I had a much-needed, fun-filled long weekend away in Vancouver, British Columbia. Today I’m sharing all the vaycay details, including my thoughts on our Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre stay.

Spoiler alert: to say it was amazing is an understatement. 🙌🏻

Why Vancouver?

Aaron turned 36 this year. While out for dinner with my girlfriends, I asked for some birthday gift ideas. Five minutes and one cocktail later, they had me and my rubber arm fully convinced that the only gift option was a weekend getaway and the destination of choice should be Vancouver!

I began planning immediately and the more I looked up online, the more excited I became. I went to university in Victoria and took countless family vacations to the island over the years, but I’d never been to Vancouver before. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of travelling somewhere new.

My girlfriends recommended staying in the city’s vibrant downtown district and a few searches online kept brining me back to a hotel nestled right in the centre of it: Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre.

Where We Stayed: Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre

Google knew what it was talking about: I’m so thrilled to have partnered with Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre for this trip.

Not only did the hotel’s prime location mean we were literally at the centre of everything – but our gorgeous room with floor-to-ceiling ocean views made an incredible trip even more memorable.

We stayed in a King Suite which – as you can see – was fit for a king.

Plus, staying in this stunning space gave us access to the bi-level Sheraton Club Lounge, which we happily visited each day.

The lounge has snacks and beverages available 24/7 (which I can confirm, because Aaron left our room at 3 a.m. to get treats, lol!) – and offers evening hors d’oeuvres and a deluxe continental breakfast in the morning.

Here’s a Look at What We Did While in Vancouver…

Took in the Views

Okay – I’d obviously heard that Vancouver is a beautiful city but I didn’t think we’d be stopping to drink in the views as much as we did!

From admiring the glittering waterfront at Canada Place…

When I think back on our trip, the beauty of the city is what stands out the most.

Did a Walking Food Crawl

No matter where we travel, Aaron and I are alllllll about food and drink. So – surprise, surprise –  given how walkable downtown Vancouver is, we essentially went on a three-day food crawl!

Thanks to our central location, we were never more than twenty minutes away from anywhere we wanted to go – from Robson Street to Yaletown, Gastown and even Granville Island.

A few stops stood out to us in particular.

Best Sushi: Minami Yaletown

They had me at ‘Champagne Roll’ and it was delicious.

Best Happy Hour (and buck-a-shuck): Coast

Okay, so we’ve always heard how expensive Vancouver is. Which, to live in, is absolutely true. But we were very pleasantly surprised by all the amazing happy hour deals in the city! The best, hands down, was our great buck-a-shuck experience at Coast.

Best Late Night: Marutama Ra-men

When you walk past a restaurant three times and there’s always a lineup outside, chances are you should go in.

The ramen at Marutama was SO good.

Best Nightlife: Gastown

Aaron and I had a great evening out with some of our friends who live in Van (you know your night’s good when you take two limos, lol!) and they toured us around the Gastown area. My favourite stop was The Diamond – it had such great ambience.

Enjoyed Breakfast in Bed at Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre

As much as I loved all our food-on-the-go, my favourite meal was breakfast in bed at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre!

So you’d think that having two nights kid-free, we’d be taking full advantage and sleeping in each day, right? Well, that’s what we thought too – but our internal clocks kicked in and we were up bright and early!

That’s alright though – because it gave us more time to enjoy breakfast in bed! Room service for the win.

Played the Tourist Role

The one thing on our to-do list was to visit Granville Island and I’m SO glad we did. For those who aren’t familiar, it’s a man-made peninsula that has become quite the cultural hub and culinary destination.

Our day started with a ferry ride and we spent hours browsing the public market, little boutiques and eateries, making for a memorable morning.Granville Island ice cream

Met my girl Brittany, @stayathomedecor

Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that after many years forging a friendship online, the beautiful Miss Brittany behind @stayathomedecor and I had the chance to catch up in person (and do a bit of shopping at The Cross Decor and Design, easily Vancouver’s most stunning home store).

Love you Brit!

As you can see, we fit a lot of fun into a few days. Thanks again to Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre for hosting Aaron and I. It was an incredible trip and we can’t wait to visit again!
