Pumpkins After Dark is one of those Edmonton Halloween traditions that makes for such a fun fall night out. The outdoor experience features more than 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins transformed into larger-than-life displays, with everything from classic Halloween characters to impressive pop culture-inspired creations.
There are also roaming performers, live pumpkin carving demonstrations and lots of photo opportunities throughout the experience.
I’ve shared Pumpkins After Dark on Instagram in past years and always get so many questions in my DMs, so I thought I’d answer a few of them here.
Is Pumpkins After Dark Edmonton kid-friendly?
Yes! I’d definitely consider this a family-friendly Halloween activity.
There are multiple sections featuring Disney characters, dinosaurs and superheroes. There is some moody lighting and creepy music, but there aren’t jump scares or anything overly scary.
I’d say it’s geared toward families, but it would also make for a cute date night or fun evening with friends.
How much are Pumpkins After Dark Edmonton tickets?
I LOVE checking out events around Edmonton. It’s kind of my jam! 😂
That said, this one is definitely on the pricier side. Ticket prices vary depending on the date, but general admission starts around $23 for adults and $17 for youth.

There’s also a maze add-on available. Personally, I’d skip it. I think there’s plenty to see and do without adding the maze.
Where do you park for Pumpkins After Dark?
I was able to find free parking at Borden Park Swimming Pool, but it’s very limited, so I wouldn’t count on getting a spot there.
Another option is parking at the Edmonton Expo Centre, which is currently $16.50.
Are all of the pumpkins real?
This was something I was curious about too!
The pumpkins are all hand-carved, but they aren’t all real pumpkins. There’s a combination of real and synthetic pumpkins throughout the displays. The organizers told us that it takes the team all year to carve the displays, and honestly, they are pretty impressive to see in person.
Is Pumpkins After Dark stroller-friendly?
The walking trail is paved and approximately 1 km, so I’d say it should be quite manageable with a stroller. There are lots of displays along the route, so you’ll probably want to take your time and stop for photos along the way.
How busy does Pumpkins After Dark get?
I was lucky enough to attend the pre-opening, so I can’t personally speak to how busy it gets during regular evenings.
There are timed tickets available online, though, which helps stagger the crowds.
If you’re going with little ones or want a more relaxed experience, I’d keep an eye on the available time slots when booking.
