Today is the day: after months of chatting about plans for our luxurious master bedroom refresh, I’m finally sharing the room reveal with you all and I’m SO excited! We really love how this space came together.
Our intention was to create a relaxing atmosphere with soothing colours, plush textiles and romantic lighting. Plus, we wanted to invest in solid, quality furnishings that’ll last for years to come. I’m happy to say that we hit the mark on both counts.
Let’s take a peek at all the details!
Luxurious Master Bedroom Furniture
Sleigh bed
Without a doubt, I’ve never loved a piece of furniture more than our Curated Boho Chic sleigh bed by Universal Furniture. It’s grand in every sense of the word – from its quality to its stature – making it the centerpiece of our bedroom.
Plus, its plush, tufted finish makes me feel like we’re living in an upscale, luxury hotel every night!
Nightstands
My husband’s favourite pieces are our Postscript Cancale Linen Bedside Chests.
Also made by Universal Furniture, these nightstands are the definition of quality furniture. They’re SO sturdy, you can tell they’ll last for decades. And you’ll want them to: with a linen finish, bun feet and shaped drawer fronts, they have a classic elegance with a masculine edge.
My favourite feature is their felt-lined top drawer, perfect for storing delicate items and jewelry. And at 29 inches tall, these chests are the perfect height to match our bed.
6-Drawer Chest
Although our bedroom features a walk-in closet, you can never have too much storage – especially where clothes are concerned, lol! That’s why I’m so glad we chose to replace our well-loved (that’s code for beaten up) Ikea dresser with this stunning Paula Deen Home Bungalow Oleander 6-Drawer Chest, also by Universal Furniture.
I love the contrast of its white linen finish and its dark hardware. Plus, it’s the ideal size for our space, fitting perfectly under Aaron’s 58-inch tv with room for a few decorative accents up top.
Pink Velvet Bench
While I stuck very close to the design concept I originally put together for our master bedroom, the one unexpected addition was this blush pink velvet bench. And can you blame me? I think it’s totally show stopping.
I hate to disappoint, but this velvet beauty was a lucky find at my local Homesense Canada store. At $400, it wasn’t cheap but I knew I had to have it.
In case you’re on the hunt for one of your own, I’m linking a few similar (but more affordable) options:
Luxurious Master Bedroom Rug
My husband and I agree that if we could go back in time and change one decision we made while building our house, it would be the carpet. The colour, how badly it’s worn – we aren’t huge fans.
But replacing it at this point makes about as much sense financially as throwing money down the toilet. So, naturally, I did the next best thing and covered up the ugly with the MOST gorgeous rug I’ve ever owned.
This 8 by 11 Orian Rugs Boucle Collection Coastal Diamond area rug features a sculpted high-low pattern, giving it texture and dimension. And while I love its pretty diamond pattern and neutral shade, I chose this rug because of its durability.
Made of 100 per cent polypropylene, it’s non-shedding, extra durable, and stain resistant while still being soft underfoot which is exactly what we needed in this high-traffic area.
And yes, it’s pretty. Very, very pretty! If you love my rug, here are a few other neutral patterns from Orian’s Boucle collection:
Luxurious Master Bedroom Wall Decor
To add a bit of interest to our previously plain walls, Aaron and I built white board and batten wainscoting throughout the entire room and gave the upper half a fresh coat of off-white color.
Wallpaper
We also decided to make the space behind our bed a feature wall and adorned it with Graham & Brown’s Chevron Texture Pink and Bronze Wallpaper. I’m always a fan of adding a pop of millennial pink. Thankfully, getting Aaron on board wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be! Partly, I think, because he’s just come to accept pink in our home and also because the bronze chevron pattern adds (an ever so slight) hint of masculinity.
If I’m being honest, though, I was not as thrilled with this wallpaper as I hoped to be. Earlier this year, I redecorated our mudroom with Graham & Brown’s Honolulu White Ice Wallpaper and it looks 10/10 amazing. It’s perfect: the paper has a beautiful shimmer and the pattern is seamless.
However, despite applying the pink wallpaper with meticulous skill, I’m able to see a dark line between each panel and, personally, I prefer when wallpaper looks flawless . Overall, though, I really do like the luxe element it adds to the space!
Mirrors and decor
I originally purchased some pretty yet plain rectangular mirrors for our bedroom but quickly returned them when I found the PERFECT mirrors at The Brick.
At 28″ wide by 41″ tall, these oversized arch-top Atley mirrors are the perfect scale for our bedroom and I adore their broken silver leaf metal frame.
To tie into the pink of our wallpaper and bench, I framed some gorgeous peony prints and scattered some decorative accents throughout the room.
My favourite accent is these lit mercury glass orbs – they add such a romantic ambience in the evening.
The cats and Elle, on the other hand, are big fans of these velvet pet stairs to get onto the bed, as well as this incredibly cute pet sofa!
Luxurious Master Bedroom Mattress and Bedding
Another highly important yet often overlooked element of any good bedroom is a quality mattress. It’s so important, in fact, that I wrote a blog post all about how we found our perfect match and what you need to know to find your ideal mattress.
I’m also totally smitten with our bedding, which is the perfect balance of comfort and beauty. I outfitted our room with Glucksteinhome’s Classic White collection (including the 3-piece duvet set, 4-piece sheet set, euro shams and decorative cushions), as well as their chunky blush Stella knit cushion and throw.

Please note that this is not a sponsored post, though I’d love to thank Universal Furniture for collaborating with me and providing furniture for styling purposes. Thanks also to GlucksteinHome, Orian Rugs, The Brick and Graham & Brown for providing decorative accents. As always, all thoughts are my own.
