Halloween Gin Gin Mule

Looking to be the ghostess with the mostest this Halloween? Put a little ‘boo’ in your booze and treat your witches to one of these chillingly good Halloween Gin Gin Mule cocktails.

Eyeball drink: Halloween Gin Gin Mule

While following the traditional recipe of gin, lime juice, mint and ginger beer, I opted to add in some fresh ginger juice for a bit of extra zing. Plus, butterfly pea flower ice adds a fun, Halloween hue (and changes from blue to magenta as it melts thanks to the lime juice).

You’ll Need:

  • 1.5 oz gin (I used Sheringham Seaside Gin)
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz fresh ginger juice (adjust to taste – I like it snappy!)
  • Ginger beer, to top
  • Ice, to shake
  • Butterfly pea flower ice cubes, to serve (recipe below)
  • 2 mint sprigs – 1 to muddle, 1 to garnish

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the mint, lime juice and fresh ginger juice. Add the gin and ice, shake to chill. Strain into a cocktail glass filled with butterfly pea flower ice. Top with chilled ginger beer and stir to combine. Garnish with fresh mint and a fun, Halloween embellishment of your choice (I went with an eyeball)!

Want to make the drink even MORE colour-changing? Use crushed butterfly pea flower ice.

How To Make Butterfly Pea Flower Ice

Bring water to a boil. Depending on how much ice you want to make, add 2g of butterfly pea flowers per 1 cup of hot water. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes, until a nice, deep blue in colour. Remove the flowers and add the tea to ice cube trays, freeze and then you’re good to go!

The butterfly pea flower tea itself has a subtle, earthy taste and is a great, natural way to add a bit of colour-changing magic to you drinks and cocktails!
