Looking to be the ghostess with the mostest this Halloween? Put a little ‘boo’ in your booze and treat your witches to one of these four chillingly good Halloween cocktails.
Easy Halloween Cocktails
Wicked Blackberry Margarita
This Wicked Blackberry Margarita is one of my favourite cocktails to date. It’s smooth and flavourful without being overly sweet, making it the perfect sip for Halloween (or any time of the year).
Yields 1 pitcher
You’ll need:
- 6 oz blackberry juice
- 3 oz blueberry pomegranate juice (I used Pom Wonderful)
- 1.5 oz Triple sec
- 3 oz blanco tequila (I used Casamigos Blanco)
- 1.5 oz simple syrup
- Handful of blackberries
- 4 large handfuls of ice
- Lime wedge and salt to rim (I used pink hibiscus salt)
Directions:
Rim a margarita glass with a slice of lime and then coat it in salt. Next, add all of your ingredients into a blender and blend until you get a nice slushy consistency (add more ice if necessary). Pour the margarita into your salted glasses, top with a festive straw and prepare to make a second round, because these will definitely be hit at your Halloween party!
Plus, if you’d like to replicate my shimmery bat straw – I simply drew and cut out a bat on glitter craft foam, then affixed it to a black straw.
Red Halloween Sangria
In need of a frighteningly delicious Halloween cocktail? This make-ahead Red Halloween Sangria is as rich in flavour as it is in colour. It’s a fang-tastic drink for Halloween parties – or any time of year, really.
Yields 1 Pitcher
You’ll Need:
- 1 bottle of red wine (Grenache or Pinot Noir), chilled
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup brandy, depending on how strong you want it
- Juice of one orange
- 1 orange, sliced into thin rounds
- 1 cup of berries (I used fresh blueberries, blackberries and strawberries)
- 4 tbsp fall spiced simple syrup, to sweeten (recipe below)
For serving
- Ice
- Club soda, to top
- Eyeballs (lol!)
Directions:
Thinly slice an orange and add it to a large pitcher, along with the mixed berries, juice of one orange, bottle of red wine, brandy and simple syrup.
Good things come to those who wait. I highly suggest covering and refrigerating it for at least 2 hours. Got more time? Steeping the sangria overnight will help make a more flavourful cocktail. However, if time is of the essence, combine at let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes so ingredients can meld.
When you’re ready to serve, fill a glass with ice and add sangria until 3/4 full. Top with club soda and garnish with a few plastic eyeballs – lol!
‘Bloody Mary’ Halloween Caesar
This caesar is a spooky take on a traditional Canadian drink!
Yields 1 cocktail
You’ll need:
- .5 ounces vodka (my preference: Grey Goose)
- Mott’s Clamato, to fill (about 5 ounces)
- 1 ounce Caesar Squeezers sauce
- Ice
Caesar Squeezers is available across Canada and I’m loving it – I won a prize pack from them on National Caesar Day and love the BIG flavour it provides! However, if you’d like to kick it old school, you can also season your Caesar using:
- 4 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 dashes Tabasco hot sauce
- 3 grinds of cracked salt and pepper
Rimmer:
- Celery salt (if you want to go traditional) or black sea salt (if you want something a little spooky)
- Lime
Garnish:
- At a bare minimum, you’ll want celery!
- I decided to build a bit of a spooky face using celery as the hair, olives as the eyes and some gummy Dracula teeth as the mouth.
- Other fun garnishes include: lime, pickle spears, pepperoni sticks, pickled beans, salami, pickled asparagus, skewered cheese, pickled carrots, olives and pickled onions.
Creepy Lychee Halloween Martini
Lychee and grapefruit shine through with every sip and a fun, eyeball garnish is sure to earn you title of ‘ghostess with the mostest’ this Halloween.
Yields 1 cocktail
You’ll Need:
- 0.75 ounces vodka (I used Grey Goose)
- 0.75 ounces lychee liqueur (I used Soho)
- 1 ounce lychee juice (you can buy lychee juice in a bottle, or simply reserve the juice from your canned lychees)
- 0.5 ounces fresh lime juice
- 0.5 ounce fresh grapefruit juice
- Lychees (fresh or canned) – to muddle and garnish
- Blueberries, to garnish
- Red jam, to garnish
- Ice
Directions:
In a cocktail tin, muddle one whole lychee with vodka and lychee liqueur. Add lime, grapefruit, lychee juice and ice to the tin. Shake vigorously and strain into a martini glass.
To make some spooky eyes as a garnish, spoon a bit of jam into two lychees, fill each with a blueberry and serve on a cocktail pick.
Pro Tip: Do you enjoy your martinis extra cold? Fill your martini glass with ice to help it chill while you make your cocktail.
I hope you enjoyed these four hauntingly good Halloween cocktails!
