Isn’t it funny how time seems to move differently while on vacation? A few weeks back my girlfriend Alex and I took a road trip with the kids to the Delta Calgary Downtown Hotel and I swear we managed to fit a week’s worth of activities into three days!
It was my third time staying at this Delta property. I last visited over the winter for an action-packed girls’ trip with my friend Alicia and it felt SO good to be back.

2. Room and Amenities
With renovations unveiled in November 2018, you can expect to find guest rooms that are stylish, modern, clean and comfortable.
This trip was my first time staying in one of the Corner Junior Suites and it was very convenient when travelling with kids. There was a separate bedroom with a king bed. Plus, a sitting room with a sofa bed and the most incredible view of the Calgary Tower and downtown skyline.
Just look at those evening views – swoon!
We also took full advantage of the Delta’s heated indoor pool and hot tub.
I think it’s safe to say that the kids had a blast.
3. Location
The Delta Downtown Calgary is the first hotel you come to when entering downtown from Memorial Drive.
Located right in the heart of everything and only steps away from a scenic, riverside walk, I love having the downtown core as our homebase when visiting C-Town.
If the Calgary Zoo is on your itinerary, like it was on ours, you’ll be pleased to know it’s only a four-minute drive away.
And at 24-minutes, Callaway Park was easy to get to as well. We enjoyed the scenic drive along the Bow River.
4. Shoe & Canoe and The Stargazer Patio
If delicious food, statement fireplaces, refreshing cocktails and industrial decor is your vibe, you need to check out Shoe & Canoe.
Conveniently located right off the Delta Calgary Downtown lobby, we dined here for breakfast and dinner. This charcuterie board was the best I’ve ordered in ages.
And if you like a light but flavourful, savoury breakfast, I highly recommend the Roasted Ham and Emmental Sandwich.
Speaking of recommendations, I also suggest heading upstairs to check out the stunning views from the Stargazer Patio by Shoe & Canoe.
Open seasonally for lunch, happy hour and private events (like weddings!), the view is truly spectacular.
5. Delta Elite Pantry
Have you heard of the Delta Elite Pantry?

I was a fan when visiting with my girlfriend. But let me just say – it hits different when travelling with kids! So convenient.
