This time last week my girlfriend Alex and I were living our best lives during our second-annual road trip down south to Stampede City. There’s SO much to do in Calgary with kids and I’m sharing our three-day itinerary which included:
- A phenomenal stay at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire
- Jaw-dropping panoramic views of the city from the Calgary Tower
- Delicious meals at Flower & Wolf Calgary
- An exhilarating afternoon zipping down Sheraton Suite Calgary Eau Claire’s two-story waterslide
- A fun theme park experience at Calaway Park
- A relaxing evening walk through Prince’s Island Park and along the Bow River
- A day out at the Calgary Zoo

Our Hotel: Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire
It’s been a LONG time since I’ve experienced incredible customer service and when I look back on our stay at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire, the top-rate customer service is what stands out most.
Don’t get me wrong, the rooms were spacious. The pool was divine. The location was exactly what we were looking for – right downtown and steps away from the Bow River. Yet, above all, I forgot how good customer service can truly elevates your vacation experience and our stay at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire reminded me.
Attentive concierge valet staff who went above and beyond. Impeccable room cleaning and turn-down service. The friendliest front desk staff. I can’t say enough good things!
Every room in the hotel is a suite, which means ample space for travelling with kids. Plus, I liked how our suite had a separate desk and seating area so I could relax and do a bit of work while the kids were asleep. Also, floor-to-ceiling windows made for gorgeous views.
Sheraton Club Lounge Rooftop Patio
We also had access to the Sheraton Club Lounge, where guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast, all-day refreshments and evening hors d’oeuvres.
The Club Lounge was super convenient for grabbing drinks and snacks for the kids and the breakfast was top-rate. The same can be said of this view from the rooftop patio. I was swooning.
Marveled At The City From Above In The Calgary Tower
Located 191 metres above the downtown core, the Calgary Tower offers a 360° view of the bustling city, majestic Rocky Mountains, foothills and prairies.
A quick ten-minute walk from our hotel, the kids were so excited and had NO fear when it came to stepping out onto the glass floor. Their Mama? Well, it was a different story for me – lol! While I did end up walking on the glass floor, it was definitely a face-your-fear moment.
Zipped Down Downtown Calgary’s Only Waterslide
Staying at a hotel with a pool is always a hit with the kids! But a pool with a view? Well, that’s something this Mama appreciates!
Not only is Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire the only hotel in downtown Calgary with a waterslide but I’d argue that it’s the pool with the best view, too. Just look at this glass dome!
We also loved taking a dip in the whirlpool and for those more athletically inclined, there’s an in-house fitness centre.
Experienced Culinary Excellence at Flower & Wolf Calgary
Conveniently located off the lobby of Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire, we enjoyed two meals at Flower & Wolf Calgary: dinner and cocktails as well as breakfast.
With its colourful accents, industrial decor and moody bar, this space was a VIBE and the food tasted just as good as the restaurant looked. Alex and I love oysters and they were the best we’ve had in ages.
Plus, we were grateful for the variety of options on the kids’ menu and the large outdoor patio which made dining out with four little ones a breeze.
Played All Day At Calaway Park – Calgary With Kids
We were on the fence about taking four kids of various heights and ages to a theme park… but I’m so glad we did. We all had a blast!
While the kids weren’t tall enough to go on all the rides (they’re ages 3-6), there was still enough to fill a full day. Also, I personally lived my best life going down timber falls log ride lol.
Plus, if you’re looking to save a bit of money, Alex and I bought our tickets online and saved 22%. We literally waited right until we were in the parking lot so there’s no need to do it in advance as the email comes through immediately.
Enjoyed A Twilight Stroll By The River
If you stay at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire, you’re going to love the location! Not only is it close to all of the amenities of downtown but it’s right next to the RiverWalk pathway.
We strolled along the Bow River in a loop that took us to the iconic Peace Bridge and the new Jaipur Bridge. The kids burned off some steam, hopping rocks and climbing trees in Prince’s Island Park. Overall, it was a great way to enjoy a warm summer evening.
Took A Walk On The Wild Side at the Calgary Zoo
The Calgary Zoo has been our family’s must-visit attraction during our last four summer trips to Calgary. It has sprawling grounds and well-kept facilities, and the kids love checking out its fuzzy inhabitants – from the super cool (literally) penguins to the hippos and giraffes.
There are multiple play places where the kids can burn off some energy and plenty of places to grab food and bevvies.
This year, the biggest hit with the kids was the prehistoric park section where you can encounter numerous animatronic dinosaurs.
Elle, on the other hand, was most excited to head to the indoor tropical gardens to see the butterflies. When one landed on her arm, it was quite the celebration. I was also happy to cash in some of my Air Miles (300 dream miles) to save money on tickets.
All in all, it was an excellent trip to Calgary with kids – an annual tradition we’re already excited to do again next year!
A big thank you to Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire, Flower & Wolf and the Calgary Tower for hosting us. As always, all thoughts are my own.
