Designing Our Backyard Oasis
When my husband Aaron designed our backyard layout, he did so with entertaining in mind: an upper deck for dining and socializing and a lower deck for late nights and afternoons by the hot tub.

Our ground-level concrete pad remained empty until this spring, when we decided to move down our existing furniture and completely redo our main patio space.
Fully furnishing our dream backyard was eight years in the making and I wanted to ensure we did it right. That’s why I’m thrilled we partnered with Cottswood Interiors, who’ve been providing quality furnishings and design-to-delivery expertise to Edmontonians for over 30 years.

In-home Consultation
Not going to lie, I fell in love with multiple patio pieces in-store and online – including the Crown set in white and black, Grenada set, Alegria set, Ark Fire Pit and Base Fire Pit.
Sometimes, so many good options can feel overwhelming. I was therefore relieved to have an in-home consultation with Christopher Cook.
Aaron and I knew our backyard oasis must-have were:
- A fire table for added ambience, warmth and to help extend our patio season.
- Patio furniture made with performance fabrics to withstand time (and our two young kids).
It was so helpful having Christopher assess our space. He offered recommendations on the ideal layout and furniture placement, as well as tips for creating a vibe – such as layering in greenery for added softness, colour and privacy.
Plus, he made choosing the right fire table an easy decision. Prior to our meeting, I was waffling between the Ark and the Base fire tables. I’m grateful Christopher pointed out that the circular Ark would help make our patio feel more spacious. Plus, a round versus angular shape is a better option with young kids. Done!

Delivery was such a seamless process. All I had to do was open my door and say hello and the Cottswood delivery team handled the rest – including assembly and removing all packaging. My experience was the definition of white glove service.

I’m beyond thrilled with our new patio setup.
