Apple Cider Sangria

This year, rather than mourning the end of summer, I’ve decided to fully embrace all the charming aspects of fall. That’s right, I’m going full-on basic over here. You can find me taking the kids on leaf-strewn walks by the river, pumpkin spice latte in hand, with a scarf softly flapping in the breeze. You get the picture, LOL – if the sweater’s not oversized, I don’t want it.

So, I’m sure it goes without saying that when I saw these stunning pewter Stag Glasses from Vagabond House, your fall-lovin’ gal knew she had to add ’em to the barware collection.

I showed them to my blogger BFF Alex and we began dreaming up a fall-themed cocktail as extra as this glass.

The result? An Apple Cider Sangria that’s an easy, crisp sip!

If you’ve tried any of our past recipes, you’ll know that we like spirit-forward beverages. However, with Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend (and later next month for our American friends), we wanted to create something a little milder that’s pleasing for all your holiday guests.

Pouring apple cider sangria into a pitcher

I promise, you’re gonna FALL in love with the apple and cinnamon flavours. Okay, enough puns. Here’s the recipe:

Apple Cider Sangria

Yields 1 pitcher

You’ll need:

  • 1 bottle dry white wine (750 ml)
  • 1 can Strongbow Apple Cider Original Dry (500 ml)
  • 2 oz Triple Sec
  • 1 Honeycrisp apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 pear, thinly sliced
  • Large handful frozen cranberries
  • Ice
  • Cinnamon sticks, to garnish

Ingredients for Apple Cider Sangria on a tray with white pumpkins in the backgroundDirections:

Thinly slice the apple and pear and add them to a large pitcher, along with a large handful of frozen cranberries, the bottle of white wine, can of Strongbow and Triple Sec. Stir well to combine. Add three cinnamon sticks and place the pitcher in your fridge to allow the flavours to combine. 30 minutes is great – but if you’re able to let it sit for 6 to 8 hours – or even overnight – that’s even better!

When you’re ready to serve, arrange a few slices of apple and pear in a glass. Add in a few more frozen cranberries, some ice and top with your sangria. Add a cinnamon stick for garnish and enjoy!
