There’s just something about a traditional red and white flocked Christmas tree, am I right?!
Growing up, our family tree was always red and white so when I first started buying my own ornaments with Aaron, I’m sure you can guess what the colour scheme was.
Fast forward a few years and I started incorporating pastels into my Christmas decorating. Which I LOVE. But if I’m being honest, the few season that I skipped my traditional colours, I sure missed them. There’s just something about the red and white that puts me in a Christmas state of mind reminiscent of my childhood!
That’s why I’m so glad I pulled the old colours out of storage last year… in a new space, with a new tree! Here are all the details of my Christmas tree setup in our front foyer.
Our flocked Christmas tree
I’m sure you’ve heard a lot of people talk about King of Christmas trees… and for good reason!
This is the 7 foot tall, 42 inches wide Prince flock and I love its shape, fullness and how well the flocking is holding up.
I did make one mistake though – I order the unlit tree and feel like I should’ve gone with the LED lit version. However, I’m still super happy with it and have been browsing their website recently, taking a look at all the different tree shapes and sizes.
If you’re looking for something a bit larger, I was also considering their King Flock which is wider from top to bottom and can be ordered as large as 15 feet tall! And, on the flip side, if you’re decorating a narrower or smaller space, they have slim trees available as well.
I was also super impressed by their incredibly full Cypress tree, minimalist Noble Fir and fun pink and blue versions if you’re looking to create something more one-of-a-kind.
Traditional red and white flocked Christmas tree ornaments
While I do have a matching set of 18 red glass balls scattered throughout the tree, I like falling in love with individual ornaments.
Therefore, you’ll find a lot of quirky ornaments – from feathered owls to glistening icicles and London phonebooths – all in reds, whites and silvers.
Christmas tree toppers
Rather than a star or angel, I arranged various silver and red glitter picks as my Christmas tree topper.
Reusable boxes
Both aesthetically pleasing and functional, I bought reusable boxes to store gifts for the family (and add a little bit of interest under the tree).
Tree skirt
I added some texture and a bit of contrast with a brown faux fur tree skirt (though I’m also loving the tree collar trend).
Ribbon
I weaved 2 foot sections of wire tulle ribbon throughout the tree to achieve this look! My ribbon is from Urban Barn, though there are plenty of options online. The wire helps make it malleable and easier to work with.
More traditional red and white Christmas decor
Here are a few more stunning pieces I’ve had my eye on this year!
If you’re looking to decorate a traditional red and white flocked Christmas tree for yourself this year, I hope this provided a bit of inspiration! I think I’ll be bringing a similar look back this year, I liked it so much (and so did the kids!)
