Well, guys, after a whopping five years in our home, I finalllllllllly found the textured rug of my dreams to complete our dining room!

When we moved into our house, I promised myself I wouldn’t buy furniture and decor just to fill space. At 25, I wasn’t interested in becoming house poor. Plus, I didn’t want to be surrounded by items that simply ‘worked’ – I wanted to create a home I truly loved.

…I guess I was channeling my inner Marie Kondo before sparking joy was even a thing 😂!

After years of hunting – and bringing home and returning four underwhelming or ill-sized rugs – I landed on (and am thrilled with) this beautiful Golden Valley Harbor Blue area rug by Orian Rugs.

Why I love our textured rug

Size

There are a few different reasons I’m loving this rug – but I think the most practical reason is its size.

I think a large part of my issue finding a rug for our dining room was its odd dimensions. Your standard 5’ by 8’ was too small for my table, but 8’ by 10’ was too large for the alcove. Thankfully, Orian Rugs offers many different rug sizes and their 6’6” by 9’6” was literally perfect!

Visual interest

I also love the visual interest that a textured rug creates.

The Golden Valley Harbor Blue features a sculpted high-low pattern, giving it dimension. I’m a big fan of the subtle light blue color – it really pops against the white background.

Durable

I have Orian Rugs’ Boucle’ Collection Coastal Diamond area rug in our bedroom. At almost a year old – and with three cats and two kids running around – it’s looking perfect, even though it’s white.

That’s because the Boucle’ Collection rugs are made of 100 per cent polypropylene, making them non-shedding, extra durable, fade resistant and stain resistant, while still being soft underfoot. It’s literally exactly what I need in this high-traffic area (where my toddler is more than likely to spill food and Emmett likes to crawl around).

SURPRISE! I have another beautiful Orian Rugs piece on my main floor – this Boucle’ Collection Cottage Floral runner.

Though the two rugs are different patterns, they’re both from the same collection and feature similar colors, making them tie together beautifully in my open concept dining room and kitchen.

Clearly, the cat’s also a fan.

So literally one of the most convenient things to get delivered right to your doorstep is a rug. Have your TRIED transporting one home on your own? They’re so bulky and long.

Not going to lie – I do prefer to shop in-person as opposed to online… I’ve had more than one situation where colors on a website did not match what I received. But I found it super helpful to creep Orian Rugs on Instagram and see so many examples of their rugs in real people’s homes. I got the sense that their rugs really are true to color – and I can vouch that I’m thrilled with the three I have in my home.
