It’s officially T-1 week until the kids go back to school and I swear the calendar must have it wrong! We sure did make the most of our summer, though, and while every year has its standout moments, one of the highlights this time around was a little road trip down to Calgary with my best friend and our four kids to stay at the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire.

From pool time to indulgent meals, river walks and days out at Heritage Park and Calaway Park, we sure packed a lot of action into our three-day vacation. Here are all the details:

Stay At Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire
First of all, a big thank you to Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire for hosting us. This was our fourth time staying at the property and, in my opinion, the best yet!
While I’ve always loved the spacious rooms, attentive customer service and gorgeous views, one of my favourite things about this property is its location. Positioned right in the heart of downtown yet only steps away from the Bow River Pathway, we sure took advantage of the Sheraton’s ideal location. Each night the kids would hop on their scooters and we’d take evening strolls to check out the sunset over the iconic Peace Bridge.

The Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire also has a fantastic pool – the whole space is encased in a glass dome, making it light and bright with excellent views of downtown from the adjoining rooftop patio. The kids had a blast on the two-storey waterslide. On our arrival day, it was raining pretty heavily so we spent the entire day poolside… and it was a day well spent.

During this stay, we also had access to the Sheraton Club Lounge, where guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast, all-day refreshments and evening hors d’oeurves. And while impressive (and convenient), my favourite aspect was the view from the rooftop patio. Swoon!

Day Out At Heritage Park
If you’ve been considering visiting Heritage Park, this is your sign to go for it! There was SO much to see and do and an amazing amount of hands-on activities for the kids at this living history museum.

I was super impressed that the train, paddle wheeler and carnival rides are included with admission. I can’t wait to go back – we were there the entire day and I feel like we could’ve stayed longer!
Calaway Park
The kids had an absolute blast at Calaway Park (and this mama had fun on Timber Falls water ride)! I was surprised to see the carnival games are quite reasonably priced (all our kids won on the balloon pop game) and tickets are cheaper when you buy in advance online.

Despite being a summer weekend, wait times were quite manageable (with Timber Falls being the excpetion at 45 minutes). It was a lighthearted, fun way to spend the day.
Dining
While we definitely took advantage of the complimentary food and refreshments in the Sheraton Club Lounge, we also enjoyed a dinner and breakfast at Flower & Wolf Calgary (located inside the hotel) and evening happy hour at LOCAL Barclay (located just steps away from the hotel).

Delicious, casual dining was the perfect choice with four kids in tow.
If you have any questions about our hotel or vacation highlights, I’m happy to answer them in the comments below. Happy travelling!
