It’s official – Christmas is 10 days away! And while the holiday season is the most magical times of year, it’s definitely also one of the most expensive. That’s why I’m teaming up with the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) to highlight some easy savings with AMA.
AMA – What Is It Exactly?
If you’ve lived in Alberta long, you’ve definitely heard about AMA. Most celebrated for its outstanding 24/7 roadside assistance, I’ve been an AMA member for years. And YES – I can confirm that I’ve most certainly used their car towing service. On the side of the Anthony Henday. In the middle of rush hour. But I digress…
What you might not know, however, is that AMA Rewards is actually Canada’s largest rewards program. It offers savings at partners – from shopping to restaurants and travel – throughout the country and around the world.
Here’s how you can put those savings to use this Christmastime.
The Gift Of Savings With AMA
1. Give The Gift Of AMA
Spread the joy!
This holiday season, you can give the gift of security AND savings when you give the gift of an AMA membership.
In fact, that’s exactly what I did for my Dad. When I was a teenager and up until I moved out, my Dad always covered my AMA membership so I decided to return the favor. Plus, gifting an AMA membership is easy:
- If your gift recipient isn’t yet an AMA member, you can buy a gift membership with three tiers to choose from: Basic, Plus or Premium.
Plus, waive the $20 registration fee and donate $10 to Fill Our Fleet with promo code FREEREG at checkout until December 31, 2022.
- If your gift recipient is already an AMA member but their membership is up for renewal soon and you know their card number, just head into your nearest AMA to cover their renewal as a gift!
- Or you can give the gift of options with an AMA gift card. It can be used to buy or renew a membership or for any of the other products, services, travel or the wide range of gift cards offered at AMA.
2. Stocking Stuffers
Whether you’re stuffing some stockings, creating a themed gift basket or popping a surprise into a greeting card, a gift card is often the perfect gift!
And to make things even better, every time you purchase or reload a gift card from AMA, you’ll automatically earn 5% cash back in Reward Dollars that you can spend on anything offered at AMA.
3. Cash In On Those Reward Dollars
Take a peek at some of the gift cards offered at AMA.
Do you notice any stores you shop at regularly? I sure do!
PC for groceries. Safeway and Sobeys for more groceries (Emmett eats a lot). Shoppers Drug Mart for makeup and toiletries. Earls and The Keg for date nights. Indigo for Christmas gifts.
Lately I’ve been buying gift cards for stores I shop at frequently at AMA so I can score the 5% cash back in Reward Dollars. Plus, I buy them using my credit card so I can get credit card points, too.
In November and December alone, I’ve made $37.50 in cash back in Reward Dollars that I plan to cash in for a Safeway gift card to help cover the cost of ingredients for Christmas dinner.
4. Stack On Savings With AMA In-store and Online
Now, while scoring 5% back on gift cards is fabulous, we can’t forget that you can also receive discounts in-store and online just by flashing your AMA card!
You can browse all the deals here with some that I’ve taken advantage of recently including:
- 10% off food and non-alcoholic beverages at a variety of restaurants including East Side Mario’s, Original Joe’s, State & Main and Montana’s
- 10% off at RW&CO.
- Up to 20% off at The Source
- Save an extra 5% at Bouclair
- 10% off in-store or online on chocolates and other handmade treats at Rocky Mountain Chocolate
- Save on movie tickets at Cineplex
Don’t get me wrong – roadside assistance is incredible for peace of mind but these savings are adding a bit of peace to my pocketbook, lol!
Hope you found these tips helpful and be sure to let me know in the comments below or Instagram DM when you score a great deal using AMA – I’d love to know!
Thanks to AMA for partnering with me on this post. As always, all thoughts are my own.
