What was the last movie you watched that brought a tear to your eye?
Last night I had the chance to preview the brand NEW Redeeming Love movie, which hits theatres across Canada today and… yup, pretty sure I didn’t even make it 20 minutes before reaching for a Kleenex.
Though I haven’t read the book, Redeeming Love is based on the internationally bestselling novel by Francine Rivers (which has been published in more than 30 languages and has remained on multiple fictional bestseller lists for over 15 years – talk about impressive!)
While I can’t speak to how well the book translates to movie, I can tell you it has quite the star-studded cast, including:
- Nina Dobrev from The Vampire Diaries
- Abigail Cowen from the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
- Tom Lewis from Gentleman Jack
- Eric Dane (aka one of my faves – McSteamy) from Grey’s Anatomy
- Logan Marshall-Green from The O.C.
- Famke Janssen from X-Men
My Thoughts On Redeeming Love
First off, let me tell you – wow – the cinematography is absolutely stunning and transported me to the sweeping landscape of rural California amid the 1850s Gold Rush.
I must admit, though: I read a review categorizing Redeeming Love as a Christian romance novel and this movie was nottttttt the soft and sweet love story I expected.
It was heavy yet uplifting – exploring the harsh life of a woman who finds love after being sold into prostitution as a child. Take a peek at the official trailer to see more!
