Whip out the clamato, reach for the vodka – it’s National Caesar Day!
A great Canadian tradition, National Caesar Day is held each May on the Thursday before Victoria Day, giving us an eh-xcellent reason to whip up this iconic Canadian beverage.
Whether you like it spicy or mild, or with vodka, gin, mezcal or alcohol-free, here are three fun ways to up your Caesar game this year.
Go Big On Garnishes
When it comes to Caesars, I’m as much about what’s in the glass as what’s on top of it.
Celery or pickled beans are great but you can opt for added flair (and flavour) with some fun additions, including: pickle spears, pepperoni sticks, salami, bacon, pickled asparagus, pepperoncini, skewered cheese, pickled carrots, olives, fresh herbs and pickled onions.
Want to go extra? Try skewering on jalapeno poppers, chicken wings, shrimp, crab legs, oysters, a giant prawn or mini burgers!
Season It With Something Special
Worcestershire Sauce and Tabasco is a winning combination but lately I’ve been all about Caesar Squeezers seasoning sauce. It adds a really nice flavour.
And if you like you Caesar with an extra kick, try fresh horseradish, wasabi or a dash of sriracha.
Try Out Flavoured Liquor
This year I’m adding Eau Claire Distillery’s Dill Pickle Vodka to my roster.
From chili- to cucumber- and bacon-infused vodka, there are lots of fun infused spirits out there that could add a new flavour profile to your next Caesar.
Want to kick it old school? Here’s my standard recipe:
