If it was socially acceptable to keep a Christmas tree up year-round, I might be inclined to do so. This was our first time decorating our upstairs living room for the holidays and I’m so glad we did! (Okay, I don’t know why I just used the word ‘we’ – my husband just sat back with a glass of wine and watched me do everything, LOL!)
Regardless, our white fluffy Christmas tree adds such a calming ambience to our home. I love how it’s twinkling lights greet us each night as we head upstairs.
Today I invite you in to see how I styled this space for Christmas 2018.
Our Fluffy Christmas Tree
This year my friends over at King of Christmas sent me their Prince Flock Tree and, to put it simply, I’m kind of obsessed. It’s SO full and I absolutely adore the snowy, flocked look.
At 7 feet tall and 42 inches wide, I think this size is perfect for our upstairs family room. I ordered the unlit tree, given that I purchased an entire storage bins’ worth of new string lights last year. But the Prince comes pre-lit with LED lights, too.
If you’re looking for something a bit larger, I was also considering their King Flock which is wider from top to bottom and can be ordered as large as 15 feet tall!
And, on the flip side, if you have a narrow space to decorate like a bedroom or apartment, the King Flock Slim or Queen Flock Slim trees are your best options.
The ‘Fluff’ in our Fluffy Christmas Tree
If you’re familiar with my glamorous Christmas home tour from last year, you’ll know that the white feathery garlands in our fluffy Christmas tree are nothing more than white microfiber dusters. Like – the kind people use to clean! Turns out they look pretty darn cute in a Christmas tree.
I bought them here in St. Albert at Dollarama. However, if you’re not in Canada – don’t fret: they have a similar version online (on Amazon, Wayfair and Wal-Mart).
I have 50 dusters in total but started with only 25, which is certainly more than enough (and Amazon sells a 24-pack which is ideal).
Fluffy Christmas Tree Ornaments
In addition to the fluff, I dressed up our tree with pastel pink, silver and white ornaments that I’ve been collecting throughout the years. Here are some of my favourites:
At the top of the tree I placed a silver star, as well as some silver glitter picks for extra volume. You know, like a good hair-do, LOL.
This year I’m using our white tree skirt with our ombre Christmas tree downstairs. So, instead of buying a second I honestly just curled up one of my white faux fur rugs and a merino wool blanket under the tree. I then added a Santa bag, some oversized mercury glass ornaments, cute gift boxes and voila – the tree was complete!
Pastel Christmas Accents
In additional to our fluffy Christmas tree, I added a few other Christmas-y elements to our upstairs sitting room.
We don’t have a fireplace in this space, so I hung our beaded Pier 1 Imports stockings and a white pompom garland from our window shutters. I actually quite love the look!
I placed a white fur table runner on our gray velvet ottoman and accented my coffee table tray with some white LED Christmas trees (which add to the evening ambience).
Even my year-round succulent display (which I deserve a pat on the back for keeping alive for so long, HA!) received a bit of festive flair.
I adorned our large circular mirror with a glitter wreath using a Command Strip Hook that I affixed to the top of the mirror as opposed to our wallpaper – just to be safe.
I always receive question about this wreath and where to buy it. I’m sorry, at three-years-old it’s no longer available for sale but I’ll link some similar options below!
And I dressed up our sectional with some seasonal reindeer cushions in addition to our year-round velvet, pink and gold pillows.
Thanks for stopping by to check out my festive sitting room decor and our snowy, fluffy Christmas tree! As always, I’m happy to answer any questions in the comments below.

Love everything!!! Beautiful!
Thank you very much!
LOVE everything about this tree! Is it a specific type of microfiber duster you used? I ordered one and it doesn’t look as fluffy and feathery as the one in your beautiful tree.
Just thought I’d share in case anyone else is trying to find these beautiful dusters for their tree in 2020. I’m in Canada, and I found some not too bad looking ones at Dollar Tree, but I also found some as Canadian Tire, and once fluffed up, they look beautiful as well. The ones from Canadian Tire are the Frank’s brand. I used the refill dusters which come in a pack of ten. The ones from Dollar Tree I found next to the mops and such in the cleaning aisle and they’re sold individually.
