We just celebrated Elle’s second birthday and today I’m sharing all the photos in case you’d like to host a bright and colourful fiesta birthday party of your own!
Fiesta Birthday Party Dessert Table
When it comes to birthday parties, I love to focus on the dessert table.
This year, my friends at Whisk Dessert Co. in St. Albert knocked it out the park with their dessert selection.
The star of the show was this two-tier vanilla confetti cake, iced in pretty pastel hues and topped with macarons and mini cacti. It was almost too lovely to eat – but trust me, it was just as delicious as it looked!
The cake was accompanied by a selection of mini chocolate cupcakes, decorated with piped flowers.
Another fan favourite were these scrumptious vanilla cupcakes, topped with French macarons and pastel sprinkles.
Plus, I’m so glad I was able to capture these pineapple sugar cookies. They were so cute that the kids gobbled them up within minutes of arriving to the party!
We used Whisk Dessert Co. last year to bring my vision of a swan birthday cake to life and I can’t recommend them enough. They do amazing work!
Dessert Table Decor
I’ve always loved the look of sequin tablecloths (okay, who am I kidding – I love all sparkle LOL). I finally caved and bought one and think it was totally worth it. It adds so much drama to the space and purchasing one of my own was $90, versus renting it locally for one day for $55.
I’m also a big fan of balloon signs – they don’t require helium and have so much impact. We decided to personalize a banner of our own using silver letters to spell ‘Elle Fiesta’.
Placed on plain white serveware, the dessert was decor enough. However, to complete the table I made two simple white floral arrangement with fresh greenery and a pop of purple. And Elle’s friend the piñata watched over our colourful napkins and rose gold dessert plates!
Fiesta Birthday Party Beverages
When it came to beverages, we kept things simple and offered ice water and Jarritos Mexican sodas in lime, pineapple, mandarin and guava.
Given this party was also a chance to celebrate Aaron’s 35th birthday, we made the day about the adults just as much as it was about the kids. We had a tequila bar, a Margaritaville station, chilled prosecco and a kegerator with two types of beer on-tap.
Fiesta Birthday Party Food
Okay – I was so busy having fun at the party that I didn’t take any photos of the food!
Our family LOVES travelling to and enjoying the beautiful country of Mexico and so we decided to serve Elle’s favourite – tacos!
Our main meal was a build-you-own taco station. We prepared shredded citrus chicken and ground beef in advance and served them in warming trays. We also provided mini tortillas and an array of toppings for guests to choose from, as well as tortilla chips, guacamole, salsa and sour cream.
Fiesta Birthday Party Entertainment
Although Elle’s only two, many of our friends’ kids are a bit older. To keep everyone entertained, we set up a bouncy castle out back. We were fortunate to score ours in like-new condition off Kijiji. It’s a BEAST but I’m so glad we got it. It’s already provided hours of entertainment for Elle and her friends and is something we’ll be able to use for years to come. Plus, it includes a ball pit and has the ability to turn into a waterslide.
This piñata was also a hit (pun intended).
