Today I’m sharing a room I’ve never featured on the blog before: our light and airy guest bedroom! Or, I suppose more accurately – what used to be our guest bedroom.
Not going to lie, if I were to ‘feel sorry’ for a room in our home, it would be this guy. For four years he sat looking pretty… but was hardly ever used! Given that most of our family and friends live nearby, it only received two visitors… not counting our cats, who would break in from time to time.
Now the room is finally going to see some action: we just repainted and redecorated it as a nursery for Baby Hunka #2. But it really was cute as a guest bedroom, so here’s a quick tour:
Our Airy Guest Bedroom Details
My favourite piece in our airy guest bedroom was this beautifully ornate wrought iron bed. Gifted to us by my mother-in-law, it had an antique white finish with gold details and was the perfect focal point for the room.
I remember being SO thrilled when I found an equally-detailed vintage mirror to place above the headboard. Though neither pieces are currently available in stores, here are a few similar options to recreate the look:
On either side of the bed I placed these French-inspired carved end tables. At only 18 inches wide they were a great, slender fit for this tight space. And their $80 price tag put a smile on my face (thank you, Wayfair)!
Given that I was on a tight budget when creating this bedroom, I took a less is more approach when it came to accent decor. On the few occasions when guests did come to stay, I spruced up the space with some fresh flowers. Never under estimate the power of a little greenery!
And to create a relaxing ambience, I wound some twinkle lights around the headboard and was sure to dress the bed in the coziest bedding!
Plus, you can never go wrong with a chunky throw blanket and a few extra pairs of guest slippers – especially with our cold Canadian winters.
So, in the words of Trooper, our airy guest bedroom was ‘here for a good time, not a long time’… and though I’ll miss it, I’m SO excited that we’ve swapped it in for a nursery!
In case any details caught your eye, I’ll link them below. And, as always, I’m happy to answer any questions you have in the comments.
