Happy 2018, everyone!
It’s a new year and I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling VERY optimistic about all the experiences and opportunities the upcoming months will bring. What can I say, spending the last two weeks Netflix binging has left me in a good mood.
My 2017 in a nutshell
I entered 2017 with a three-month-old in tow, and transitioning from a fast-paced professional communications career to a full-time Mum was a life change I embraced with open arms and continue to be grateful for each day.
Throughout the year, my goals were to focus on soaking up the little moments with Aaron and Elle and working to embrace slower living. Given how I was used to such a ‘go-go-go’ lifestyle, I have to say that slowing down and truly enjoying all of Elle’s milestones came more naturally than I could’ve imagined.
And while 2017 wasn’t perfect – there were adjustments and health issues we had to face – it was SUCH an amazing year filled with more joy and love than I thought possible.
2018 New Year’s goals
Although I’m not usually one for New Year’s resolutions, I’ve learned you’ve got to make time for the little things or they’ll never happen. With that in mind, here are a few New Year’s goals I’d like to accomplish in 2018:
1. Continue making family time my number one priority
I can’t tell you how many older ladies have stopped me at the grocery store or in the mall, looked at Elle, and told me these are the most precious years of my life. I know they’re right and while I can’t slow time down, I will make the most of it.
2. Be a tourist in my own city
I love to travel and explore exotic cities. But what about the one I live in? This year my goal is to experience all the cultural and family-friendly activities that Edmonton and Alberta has to offer.
3. Make time for myself, and pursue interests that fulfill me on a personal level:
• Practice photography
I’ve always been interested in photography but now that I own a proper camera and lens, it’s time to work on my skills!
• Learn how to bake macarons and test out advanced baking recipes
I’ve heard these delicate French pastries can be finnicky, but I’d love to master them and up my dessert game overall! Life’s too short for it not to be sweet.
• Enjoy time with my girl gang
I have the BEST Mom, sisters and girlfriends. There’s nothing more energizing than getting together, eating all the good food, drinking all the tasty cocktails and hearing about their lives.
4. Stay inspired
It’s nerdy, I know, but I’m so glad I launched this blog in October – it fills my need for creativity! I have a few room transformations planned for 2018, including our master bedroom and a playroom, and I’m so excited to share them with you.
5. Take better care of my skin
It’s time to invest in self-care. I’m turning the big 3-0 this December and while I doooo have a great skincare routine, I do it grudgingly…. I only just had my first-ever facial a few months ago. I’m so stingy!
Thanks for stopping by to check out my 2018 New Year’s goals. What are you hoping to accomplish this year?
